Terms of use

A checker, not a claims service.

These short terms explain what this free limited tester does, and what it cannot decide for you.

About the tester

Smart Meter Money Back is an independent information prototype operated in the UK by Alan Brimm. It translates selected published Great Britain smart-meter Guaranteed Standards into a working-day calculation. It is not connected with Ofgem, Citizens Advice, an energy supplier or the Energy Ombudsman.

Questions about the tester can be sent to smartmeter@homepricecheck.co.uk.

No legal advice or representation

The result is general information, not legal, financial or professional advice. The tester does not determine legal entitlement, submit a claim, contact your supplier or represent you. Using it does not create an adviser-client relationship.

Your result depends on your facts

The calculation depends on the dates and answers you enter and on the published rules reviewed on 13 September 2026. Supplier records, statutory exemptions, disputed facts or later rule changes may alter the outcome. Check important dates and challenge disputed cases directly with your supplier, Citizens Advice or the Energy Ombudsman.

Availability and changes

This is a free experimental service. It may be corrected, changed, suspended or withdrawn. Reasonable care is taken with the calculation, but uninterrupted availability or a particular outcome is not promised.

Fair use

Do not misuse the tester, interfere with its operation, automate excessive submissions or present its output as an official decision. Official source material remains subject to the rights and licences of its publishers.

Your statutory rights

Nothing here excludes or limits a responsibility or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
