Privacy

Your case stays yours.

The checker is designed to work without an account and without collecting the dates or case details you enter.

Who operates this tester

Smart Meter Money Back is an independent UK prototype operated by Alan Brimm. It is not connected with Ofgem, Citizens Advice, an energy supplier or the Energy Ombudsman.

For privacy questions or requests, email smartmeter@homepricecheck.co.uk. This public contact address forwards privately.

What stays in your browser

Your event dates, appointment dates, supplier answers, payment count and generated complaint wording are processed on your device. They are not included in the measurement events sent by the public tester.

What the tester measures

To learn whether the tool is genuinely useful, the public version records a small number of categorical events: page viewed, checker started, result reached, complaint wording copied, feedback opened and feedback submitted. An event may include the broad route selected and result category. It does not include names, email addresses, postcodes, dates, supplier names, complaint text or calculated amounts.

Feedback contains only the three multiple-choice answers shown in the feedback panel. There is no free-text field.

The lawful basis is legitimate interests: operating, protecting and evaluating this limited free tester while minimising the information collected. You can object to this processing.

Technical providers

The public tester is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives ordinary technical request information such as an IP address, browser information and timestamps. The Worker uses the request IP transiently to limit automated submissions; it is not written into the funnel dataset. Funnel events use Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine and are retained for three months under its current service limits.

Cloudflare may process technical information outside the UK under the safeguards in its data-processing terms. The site’s typefaces are now served from this website; visitors no longer connect to Google Fonts.

Your choices and rights

You may ask about personal information connected with the service and, where applicable, request access, correction, deletion, restriction or object to its use. The checker deliberately does not create an account or store a case record, so it may not be possible to connect a categorical event to you.

You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you are unhappy with how personal information is handled.

Automated calculation

The browser applies published working-day rules to the answers you enter. It does not profile you or make a decision with legal or similarly significant effect. Your supplier or another competent body must decide any disputed entitlement.

What this is not

This is an independent information tool, not a claims-management service, legal adviser or representative. Do not enter account numbers or personal information into the editable complaint wording unless you are ready to send it directly to your supplier.
